Adventures in Altoona

The Scarf joined me for Christmas at my friend Shelly's. We had an amazing time with her family--her daughter, Rochelle and their dog Cheyenne can be seen here. Not to be out done, her hubby even got in on the fun!

Doesn't he look dashing?

The day after Christmas, the Scarf decided that it wanted to go visit a yarn store...and off we went. Shelly, the Scarf and I spent a very enjoyable afternoon at the Delightful Ewe. I met some wonderful knitters who graciously posed with the Scarf. In no particular order, I present to you:

First up is Brandi.

She was trying to decide what her next project was going to be while we were there. I'm not sure if she ever did choose--the Delightful Ewe has so many amazing yarns to choose from!

The proprietress of the shop, Carla, decided to go for a racy shot...

Carla's shop is amazing...full of light and yarn! And inspiration! I would get up from my knitting and wander around, trying to decide what I wanted to work with next.

This is Ruth.

Ruth was working on lovely baby blanket, but, for some reason, when she left, the blanket was the same size as when she arrived!

And finally, this is my friend Shelly.

Shelly is an amazing knitter and spinner. She made her daughter and Carla some absolutely gorgeous Fair Isle gloves for Christmas. Shell finished a Wallaby for her son while we were at the shop and it is absolutely gorgeous!

The Scarf and I had to head back to Pittsburgh and we've spent the rest of the holidays getting ready for 2009. I hope 2009 brings you all the peace, health, love and happiness that you need and want!

  3. Hello there, I am so disgusted and absolutely speechless with your co-worker's attitude. Your scarf is fabulous, I love the colour! If you want to send your scarf to the UK I will be glad to send it round to my blogging and other friends.
I think in times such as these where money is going to get even tighter for everyone, its a very good idea to have the knowledge to make things. And I bet if you had stuck a label on it saying Dior or some other fancy name, you wouldn't have heard a squeak out of them!
    So good for you!

  4. OMG. I can't believe your co-workers could be so rude!! I love the revenge idea too. I second Rose's offer for a UK location for the scarf to visit. It makes me a little sad when people are too stupid to appreciate anything crafty. Revenge is definitely good! LOL.
